Dr. Kirsch is a clinical psychiatrist with extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Both personable and caring, Dr. Kirsch provides an individualized approach to treatment in a relaxed environment as he builds strong therapeutic alliances and relationships with his clients. His evaluation process is thorough and comprehensive, and recommendations and treatment approaches are based on the most current research and clinical evidence available. Dr. Kirsch's 25+ years of experience working with patients began prior to medical school: first as an emergency medical technician, and later as a registered nurse working in a variety of settings. Dr. Kirsch graduated magna cum laude from Pace University, with a bachelor's degree in nursing, after which he completed his pre-medical coursework at Columbia University. He attended medical school at New York Medical College, followed by his post-graduate training in psychiatry, including internship and residency, at Albert Einstein College of Medicine's program at Montefiore Medical Center. An additional fellowship year was also spent at Albert Einstein at Montefiore, specifically in the Autism and Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Program, where he participated in innovative and cutting edge clinical trials and treatment studies. In addition to serving as a psychiatrist at Izlind, Dr. Kirsch is also currently on staff at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, where he works as an Attending Phsychiatrist. Dr. Kirsch also has hospital privileges at Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley in Kingston and at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. While in the hospital, he primarily works in the inpatient behavioral health units, he also provides consultative support in the emergency rooms and on the various medical units. Dr. Kirsch enjoys teaching medical students and residents, and he has been influential in the training of future psychiatrists from a number of medical schools and universities.
