Prior to creating Izlind, and in addition to being a licensed clinical psychologist since 2001, Dr. Gershuny held faculty positions at Harvard Medical School, Skidmore College, and Bard College (tenured); she held treatment and supervisory positions at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital; and she served as the Director of Clinical Services for the Devereux Foundation of New York. Dr. Gershuny has authored numerous scientific and clinical treatment publications in the top professional journals in Psychology and Psychiatry, and her research has been presented at conferences throughout the world. Publications and presentations have focused on her ground breaking research into the development and treatment of various types of anxiety and stress related symptoms. Dr. Gershuny also is frequently quoted in the media, has spoken on NPR, and appeared as a spotlighted expert in a documentary film entitled Seeking Perfection that aired on the Discovery Channel in the U.S. and on the BBC in Europe and continues to be shown in college and university classrooms.
Throughout her career, Dr. Gershuny has received numerous prestigious awards, such as Harvard Medical School’s Emerson Award (for outstanding achievements) and Hudson Valley's Top Women in Business. Along with scientifically supported forms of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dr. Gershuny also expertly, creatively, and compassionately incorporates forms of holistic and complementary care into her work. Dr. Gershuny received complementary training in: meditation practices from Dr. Jack Kornfield of Spirit Rock Meditation Center and from Florence Meleo-Meyer of UMass Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare, and Society; and Energy Psychology (EFT/Tapping) from Dr. David Feinstein of Innersource. Dr. Gershuny also received certification as a Reiki Master from Soma 11:11 Center. Dr. Gershuny also serves as Owner and President of BSG Integrative Psychology, P.C., through which she provides various forms of clinical consultations, assessments, supervision, and training throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond.
